Do What Makes You Great – Charlie Day Motivational Video

Video Transcript:

But my lesson is this: I don’t give a shit. Okay?

You cannot let a fear of failure, or a fear of comparison, or a fear of judgement, stop you from doing what’s going to make you great. You cannot succeed without this risk of failure. You cannot have a voice without the risk of criticism, and you cannot love without the risk of loss. You must go out and you must take these risks.

And people will tell you to do what makes you happy, but a lot of this has been hard work, and I’m not always happy. And I don’t think you should do just what makes you happy. I think you should do what makes you great.

Do what’s uncomfortable, and scary, and hard, but pays off in the long run. Be willing to fail. Let yourself fail. Fail in the way and the place where you would want to fail. Fail, pick yourself up and fail again. Because without this struggle, what is your success anyway?

As best we know we have one life. In it, you have to trust your own voice, your own ideas, your honesty, your vulnerability, and through this you will find your way.

You do not have to be fearless, just don’t let fear stop you. Live like this as best you can and I guarantee you will look back on a life well lived.

Everybody dies, but not everybody lives – Motivational Video

Video Transcript:

It is not death most people are afraid of. It is getting to the end of life, only to realize that you never truly lived.Tweet: It is not death most people are afraid of. It is getting to the end of life, only to realize that you never truly lived.

There was a study done, a hospital study on 100 elderly people facing death close to their last breath. They were asked to reflect about their life’s biggest regret. Nearly all of them said they regretted not the things they did, but the things they didn’t do. The risks they never took, the dreams they didn’t pursue.

I ask you would your last words be; if only I had – hey, you, wake up! Why do you exist? Life is not meant to simply work, wait for the weekend and pay rent. No, no I don’t know much. But I know this, every person on this earth has a gift.

And I apologize to the black community, but I can no longer pretend. Martin Luther King… That man never had a dream, that dream had him.

See people don’t choose dreams, dreams choose them. So the question I’m getting to is, do you have the courage to grab the dream that picked you? That befit you and grips you; or will you let it get away and slip through?

You know I learned a fact about airplanes the other day. This was – this was so surprising see. I was talking to a pilot and he told me that many of his passengers think planes are dangerous to fly in. But he said actually… it is a lot more dangerous for a plane to stay on the ground. I say what? Like how does that sound what he said, he said because on the ground. The plane starts to rust. Malfunction and wear, much faster than it ever would if it was in the air.

As I walked away I thought, yeah, makes total sense because planes were built to live in the skies. And every person was built to live out the dream they have insideTweet: Every person was built to live out the dream they have inside. So it is perhaps the saddest loss to live a life on the ground without ever taking off.

See most of us are afraid of the thief, that comes in the night to steal all of our things. But there is a thief in your mind who is after your dreams. His name is doubt. If you see him call the cops and keep him away from the kids because he is wanted for murder. For he has killed more dreams than failure ever did. He wears many disguises and like a virus will leave you blinded, divided and turn you into a kinda.

See kinda is lethal. You know what kinda is? There is a lot of kinda people, you kinda want a career change, you kinda want to get straight A’s, you kinda want to get in shape. Simple math, no numbers to crunch. If you kinda want something, then you will kinda get the results you want.

What is your dream? What ignites that spark? You can’t kinda want that. You got to want it with every part of your whole heart. Will you struggle? Yeah… yeah you will struggle, no way around it. You will fall many times, but who’s counting? Just remember, there’s no such thing as a smooth mountain. If you want to make it to the top then, there are sharp ridges that must be stepped over. There will be times you get stressed and things you get depressed over.

But let me tell you something. Steven Spielberg was rejected from film school three times, three times but he kept going. The television execs fired Oprah, said she wasn’t fit for TV but she kept going. Critics told Beyoncé that she couldn’t sing. She went through depression. But she kept going.

Struggle and criticisms are prerequisites for greatness. That is the law of this universe and no one escapes it. Because pain is life, but you can choose what type? Either the pain on the road to success, or the pain of being haunted with regret.

You want my advice? Don’t think twice. We have been given a gift that we call life. So don’t blow it. You’re not defined by your past. Instead you were born anew in each moment. So own it now. Sometimes you’ve gotta leap. And grow your wings on the way down. You better get the shot off before the clock runs out, cos there ain’t no overtime in life, no do over. And I know I sound like I’m preaching on speaking with force but if you don’t use your gift, then you sell not only yourself, but the whole world… Short.

So what invention do you have buried in your mind? What idea? What cure? What skill did you have inside to bring out to this universe? Uni meaning one, verse meaning song, you have a part to play in this song. So grab that microphone and be brave. Sing your heart out on life’s stage. You cannot go back and make a brand new beginning. But you can start now and make a brand new ending.Tweet: You cannot go back and make a brand new beginning. But you can start now and make a brand new ending.

Video Transcript:

You can write anything down if you want to. Be brave enough to write every one of your goals down, but I’m goanna tell you something. Life going to hit you in your mouth and you got to do me a huge favour.
Your why has to be greater than that knockdown.Tweet: Your why has to be greater than that knockdown
And I love it. Buster Douglas got knockdown. Nobody ever got knocked down by Mike Tyson and ever got back up.

It was almost a ten count, he was stumbling. 4, 3, 2, 1 and ding ding ding, saved by the bell. He goes to his corner, and the whole world is like “Yupe, that’s it. Once he comes back out, that’s it.” Mike is just gonna hammer him. And exactly that, Mike Tyson came out like – I got him. I got this kid up against the rope.

Listen to me, many of you right now, Life’s got you up against the rope. You can’t give up, you can’t give in. Listen to me, if it was easy everybody would do it. And if Life got you backed up, I need you to do it, what Buster Douglas did. Buster Douglas start fighting back!

And the world was shocked! Goliath has been knocked down, “what happened?” And they went to Buster Douglas, and they asked Buster Douglas simply like “what happened?” And Buster Douglas said: “Listen to me, it’s really simple. Before my mother died, she told the whole world that I was going to beat Mike Tyson. And two days before the fight, my mother died.” Buster Douglas had a decision to make. When his mother died, he can die with his mother, or he made a decision, I can wake up, and I can live for mum, and he knocked Mike Tyson out.

Simply because his why was greater than that punch. His why was greater than defeat! His why was greater than his trial and his tribulation. And I’m telling you, If you don’t know what your why is, and your why isn’t strong, you’re gonna get knocked out every single day!

The Greatest – Muhammad Ali Motivational Video

Video Transcript:

He would come to the gym and he didn’t get a ride to the gym, he didn’t have no car, he would run. He would run across the causeway.

Mohammad Ali, one of my great heroes, had a great line in the ‘70s when he was asked: “How many sit-ups do you do?” He said: “I don’t count my sit-ups.  I only start counting when it starts hurting, when I feel pain, that’s when I start counting, because that’s when it really counts.” That’s what makes you a champion.

Jerry, I’m the greatest fighter that ever stepped foot in the ring. Money will be lost that night. This will be the biggest upset in the century of all boxing. I think you’re a big bag of wind. The damndest showman that ever lived, and you ain’t kidding anybody.

The odds were 7-to-1. It’s very bid odds… for a heavyweight championship fight.
It has to be Liston. Liston is a much bigger puncher.

While these big mouth people talking about I talking too much. Well, I want all of them to be there. And I’m gonna shut up all of these mouths.

And Cassius Clay has won after six rounds…

Cassius is not my name no more.

You want to keep calling me a white man’s name. I’m not white.

Ali continues to scream at Terrell.

He beat the hell out of those who didn’t want to use his name.

Mr. Muhammad Ali has just refused to be inducted into the United States Armed Forces.

I’m just about broke. I’m not allowed to work here now in America.

I’m gonna fight, not for me, but to uplift my little brothers who are sleeping on concrete floors today in America.

He wanted to become famous to help people. It’s a wonderful ……

I’m gonna float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. George can’t hit what his eyes can’t see.

All you chumps are gonna bow when I whoop him, all of you, I know you got him, I know you’ve got him picked, but the man’s in trouble, I’m gonna show you how great I am.

I bluffed him, I have done everthing. Beat him up, basically for about five or six rounds. I thought it was easy. Then about the sixth round, he whispered in my ear, after I’d hit him in the side, “That all you got, George?”

And never talk about who’s gonna stop me. Ain’t nobody gonna stop me.

I must be the greatest. I shook up the world. I shook up the world.

I told you all, all of my critcs, that I was the greatest of all time.

He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.

When you’re a kid, you always bet some fellas, “I’m gonna be champion one day, and when I’m champion, I’m gonna come back and show.” And then I say, “Guys, I’m gonna be a great doctor one day. And I’m gonna be a dentist. I’m gonna be a great scientist. I’m gonna be the President of the country.” And there are very few people actually are able to make good of the boasts and come home and say, “I told you.”

9 THINGS TO DO IN YOUR 20S TO BE A MILLIONAIRE BY 30

9-things-to-do-in-your-20s-to-be-a-millionaire-by-30

1. Focus on earning

In today’s economic environment you cannot save your way to millionaire status. The first step is to focus on increasing your income in increments and repeating that. – Grant Cardone

2. Save to invest, don’t save to save

The only reason to save money is to invest it. Put your saved money into secured, sacred (untouchable) accounts. Never use these accounts for anything, not even an emergency.” – Grant Cardone

3. Ask for help

Within months I had a lawyer, editor, personal trainer, part-time chef, and other personnel. It cost me a fortune at first, but eventually helped push me into the million-dollar mark. Most people won’t ask for help because their ego is in the way. – Daniel Ally

4. Be decisive

Conserve your mental power by making easily reversible decisions as quickly as possible. I know what I am wearing to work and eating for breakfast each day next week. Do you? – Tucker Hughes

5. Don’t show off – Show up

I was still driving Toyota Camry when I had become a millionaire. Be known for your work ethic, not the trinkets that you buy. – Grant Cardone

6. Know when to take risks and act.

You’ll have to take major leaps in your life, sometimes not even knowing where it will lead. However, it will pay off once you get to the other side. – Daniel Ally

7. Go for $10 million, not $1 million

The single biggest financial mistake I’ve made was not thinking big enough. I encourage you to go for more than a million. There is no shortage of money on this planet, only a shortage of people thinking big enough. – Grant Cardone

8. Master soft skills and cooperate

In the process of reaching the seven-figure mark, I’ve learned dealing with people is the most important attribute. No one can become a millionaire without knowing how to deal with people assertively – Daniel Ally

9. Invest in yourself

The safest investment I’ve ever made is in my future. Read at least 30 minutes a day, listen to relevant podcasts while driving and seek out mentors vigorously… Consume knowledge like air and put your pursuit of learning above all else. – Tucker Hughes

10 Years from Now – What Will Matter Most?

Transcript:

That the reason I’m here, is I dreamed big dreams. I dream the kind of dreams that other people said would not be possible. I’m also a living proof; this isn’t a Hollywood movie. I come literally from the other side of the tracks. If you saw where I grew up and we took a picture of it, the neighbourhood, the setting, you say it’s impossible that someone could come from there and get here.

But it is possible, and not to sound too trite, if you dream big and surround yourself with great people, and leave your ego at the door, and share success with others, and have a little luck along the way, you can do anything.

But there will be people along the way, and I remember this, they will say to you, you know, you’re dreaming too big, it’s not possible, those things just can’t happen.

Don’t allow anyone, friend, family, acquaintance, teachers, whoever it is; don’t allow anyone to tell you that what you are dreaming for yourself and your family is not possible. It is possible.

Don’t be one of those people, 20 years from now, are going to be walking around in a nine-to-five job, miserable, and angry, and bitter, because you let your dreams get away from you, because you did not believe strongly enough in yourself and what was possible.

Don’t allow that to happen, and I can’t encourage you enough, to continue to think the things are possible, and that your dreams can come true. And as it relates to finding your calling, it has to be linked to something that you are so passionate and crazed about, that you’re willing to knock down walls, and climb mountains, and do the things that are going to put yourself in a position of sacrificing so many other things for its success. And you can only do that when there’s a compelling underlying feeling that you have, that this is something I’m going to fight to the death for.

And I think you can’t really succeed at the levels that you want to, unless you find that thing that you’re so passionate and excited and in love with. And I think because you’ve got it along the way you’re gonna have to convince so many other people to believe in you, and the idea, and the opportunity, and the struggle and the obstacles that are going to come can only be overcome by this passion that you have in which you’re going to be able to get people to follow you over those hurdles.

I know it sounds a little bit sophomore but it’s so true

Suing the school system for a world where fish no longer forced to climb trees

COURT HEARING:

Pre-Trial Conference (Criminal)
Case: Education Malpractice
Criminal Case Disclosure Conference
PRINCE EA VS SCHOOL SYSTEM

Court Records:
Prince Ea: Albert Einstein once said, everybody’s a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, today on trial we have modern day schooling. Glad you could come. Not only does he make fish climb trees but also makes them climb down and do a ten mile run.

Tell me school, are you proud of the things you’ve done? Turning millions of people into robots, do you find that fun? Do you realize how many kids relate to that fish? Swimming upstream in class, never finding their gifts. Thinking they are stupid. Believing they are useless.

But the time has come, no more excuses. I call school to the stand and accuse him of killing creativity! Individuality! And being intellectually abusive. He’s an ancient institution that has outlived his usage.

So Your Honour, this concludes my opening statement and if I may present the evidence of my case, I will prove it.

Judge: Proceed.

Prince Ea: Exhibit A: Here’s a modern day phone, recognize it? Here’s a phone from 150 years ago. Big difference right? Stay with me… Here’s a car from today, and here’s a car from 150 years ago. Big difference right? Well get this… Here’s a classroom of today and here’s a class we used 150 years ago.

Gallery: Whoaaa…

Prince Ea: Now ain’t that a shame? In literally more than a century, Nothing Has Changed. Yet you claim to prepare students for the future? But with evidence like that I must ask, Do you prepare students for the future or the past?

I did a background check on you and let the records show that you were made to train people to work in factories. Which explains why you put students in straight rows, nice and neat. Tell em’ sit still. Raise your hand if you wanna speak. Give em’ a short break to eat and for 8 hours a day tell em’ what to think.

Oh, and make them compete to get an A. A letter which determines product quality. Hence grade A of meat. I get it. Back then times were different. We all have a past. I myself am no Gandhi. But today, we don’t need to make robot zombies. The world has progressed, and now we need people who think creatively, innovatively, critically, independently with the ability to connect.

See every scientist will tell you that no two brains are the same. And every parent with two or more children will confirm that claim. So please explain why you treat students like cookie cutter frames or snapback hats. Giving them this ‘one size fits all’ crap.

Judge: Watch your language.

Prince Ea: Sorry Your Honour. But if a doctor prescribed the exact same medicine to all of his patients the results would be tragic. So many people would get sick. Yet when it comes to school, this is exactly what happens. This EDUCATIONAL MALPRACTICE. Where one teacher stands in front of 20 kids, each one having different strengths, different needs, different gifts, different dreams. And you teach the same thing the same way? That’s horrific!

Ladies and Gentlemen, the defendant should not be acquitted. This may be one of the worst criminal offences ever to be committed.

And let’s mention the way you treat your employees.

Defense Attorney: Objection!

Judge: Overruled! I wanna hear this.

Prince Ea: It’s a shame, I mean teachers have the most important job on the planet, yet they’re UNDERPAID. No wonder so many students are SHORT CHANGED. Let’s be honest, teachers should earn just as much as doctors. Because a doctor can do heart surgery, and save the life of a kid. But a great teacher can reach the heart of that kid and allow him to truly live.

See teachers are heroes that often get blamed. But they’re not the problem. They work in a system without many options or rights. Curriculum are created by policy makers. Most of which have never taught a day in their life. Just obsessed with standardized tests. They think bubbling in a multiple choice question will determine success. That’s outlandish.

In fact THESE TESTS ARE TOO CRUDE TO BE USED and should be abandoned. But don’t take my word for it, take Frederick J Kelly. The man who invented standardized testing, who said and I quote, “These tests are too crude to be used and should be abandoned.”

Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, if we continue down this road the results will be lethal.

I don’t have much faith in school but I do have faith in people. And if we can customize healthcare, cars, and Facebook pages, then it is our duty to do the same for education. To upgrade it. Change it. Do away with school spirit, cause that’s useless. Unless we’re working to bring the spirit out of each and every student, that should be our task.

No more common core, instead. Let’s reach the core of every heart in every class. Sure math is important, but no more than art or dance. Let’s give every gift an equal chance. I know this sounds like a dream. But countries like Finland are doing impressive things. They have shorter school days. Teachers make a decent wage. Homework is non-existent and they focus on COLLABORATION INSTEAD OF COMPETITION.

But here’s the kicker boys and girls. Their educational system outperforms every other country in the world. Other places like Singapore are succeeding rapidly. Schools like Montessori. Programmes like Khan Academy. There is no single solution, but let’s get moving. Because while students may be 20% of our population. They are 100% of our future.

So let’s attend to their dreams and there’s no telling that we can achieve. This is a world in which I believe. A world where fish are no longer forced to climb trees.

I REST MY CASE

Gallery: **APPLAUSE**

Inspirational Oscar Speech – Matthew McConaughey

Inspirational speech by Matthew McConaughey at the 86th Oscars® in 2014 | Best Actor for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club

Transcript:
There’s a few things, about three things to my count that I need each day.
One I need something to look up to, another something to look forward to, and another is someone to chase.

Now first off I want to thank God, because that’s who I look up to. He has graced my life with opportunities that I know are not of my hand or of any human hand. He has shown me that it is a scientific fact that gratitude reciprocates. In the words of the late Charlie Laughton, who said “When you got God, you got a friend, and that friend is you”

To my family, that’s who and what I look forward to. To my Father who I know he is up there right now with a big pot of gumbo. He has got a lemon meringue pie over there, he is probably in his underwear and he has got a cold can of Miller Lite, he is dancing right now. To you Dad, you taught me what it means to be a man.

To my Mother who is here tonight, who taught me and my two older brothers, demanded that we respect ourselves. And what we in turn learned was that we were better able to respect others. Thank you for that Mama.

To my wife Camila, and my kids Levi, Vida, Livingston. The courage and significance you give me everyday I go out the door is unparalleled. You are the four people in my life that I want to make the most proud of me, Thank you.

And to my hero, that’s who I chase. Now when I was 15 years old, I have a very important person in my life come to me and say, “Who is your hero?”. And I said I don’t know I gotta think about that, give me a couple of weeks. I come back two weeks later, this person comes up and says “Who’s your hero?” And so I thought about it and I said you know who it is, it’s me in 10 years.

So I turn 25, 10 years later that same person comes to me and goes “so are you a hero?” And I was like, not even close. No, no, no. She said “Why?” I said because my hero is me at 35. So you see every day, every week, every month and every year of my life, my hero is always 10 years away. I’m never going to beat my hero. I’m not going to obtain that, I know I’m not. And that’s just fine with me because that keeps me with somebody to keep on chasing.

So, to any of us, whatever those things are, whatever that is we look up to, whatever it is we look forward to, and whoever it is we are chasing to that I say amen. To that I say alright, alright, alright. And to that I say just keep living huh. Thank you.

Forget motivation, you need discipline – Navy Seals’ Advice

Transcript:

Navy Seals: Forget motivation, you need discipline

Jocko Willink: It’s not about motivation. Motivation is a fickle little emotional thing and if you get too hungry sometimes you’re not motivated, or if you get too tired sometimes you’re not motivated. Or if it’s been a long day you lose your motivation. So that’s why motivation doesn’t matter to me.

Leif Babin: One of the things we try to do in training was build those realistic scenarios that would put people in a really chaotic, overwhelming situation. There’s a dozen things that are bearing down on you, the pressure’s on. How do you do this? You have to prioritize and execute. And so you can’t take on those dozen problems simultaneously, you’re going to fail at all of them. You have to take a step back, figure out what the highest priority is, execute toward that highest priority, and then move on to the next priority. And then the next priority.

Jocko Willink: It’s about the discipline. It’s about the discipline of holding the course, knowing what you have to do, and making it happen.

Leif Babin: The battlefield’s going to change, and the priority will change. So, you’re getting shot at from one direction, and you start manoeuvring your troops to engage the enemy in that direction All of the sudden you get shot at from another direction. You’re going to have to be able to rapidly shift, be able to communicate to your team and be able to flex. And so life is like that. For any business it’s like that. Those priorities are going to rapidly change. And you’ve got to be able to rapidly shift that. Communicate that to your team. And it’s all about prioritize and execute.

Jocko Willink: Motivation is going to let you down. Discipline will stay by your side.

STOP asking for easy – Motivational Video

Transcript:

Well, let me tell you what the problem is.
Alright? Let me tell you what the problem is.
The problem is:
Everybody wants the prize, but nobody wants to pay the price.
Right? Everybody wants the prize, but nobody’s willing to pay the price.

Nobody’s willing to put in the work.
Nobody’s willing to make the sacrifice.
Nobody’s willing to eat their own shit, you know?
To make it happen.

Everybody’s expecting it to be easy. I was just giving a talk the other day at school and someone said,
“Well, why would I choose that way? That’s much harder.”
“That way’s a lot harder. Why would I choose that direction?”
And I was like, “Man, why are we talking about hard versus easy?”
“Nobody said this was gonna be easy.”

We don’t want it to be easy.
If it was easy, then everybody would be doing it. Right?
If it wasn’t difficult then everybody would be doing it.

Everybody will be an entrepreneur.
Everybody would be a billionaire.
Everybody would be a successful athlete, or artist, or businessman, or salesperson, or scientist.
Everybody would be doing it. Right?

It’s not supposed to be easy.
You shouldn’t want it to be easy.
But if you have a dream, if you have a mission, if you have a passion, this shit is not gonna be easy.

Easy shouldn’t even be in the conversation or in your vocabulary.
This is supposed to be hard.
You should want it to be hard because then no one can replicate what you create.
Anything of value and of meaning is not gonna be easy

And that’s how it’s supposed to be.
